On the Church and State blog at Religion News Service, Tobin Grant takes a crack at explaining the difference between Episcopalians and Anglicans in the United States. I am not sure the data he relies on is useful because plenty of Episcopalians identify as Anglicans because they don’t want members of schismatic groups to appropriate the word.
Also, if you are going to let someone with a partisan track record in the sexuality struggles define terms–as Grant does–you ought to at least acknowledge that they are, in fact, a partisan.
What do you make of the data and Grant’s conclusions?

Much of what one finds in this article is unsurprising. What is surprising is this: “Episcopalians are more accepting of homosexuality, but not by very much. Indeed, a majority of Anglicans (57%) and Episcopalians (68%) believe that homosexuality should be accepted by society (note: this was in 2007).” Are Anglican clergy out-of-touch with their parishioners?
