A shroud of our hearts
  cast to cover the
Depths of sorrow
Sometimes they confuse
  and tangle us
Sometimes they bring
  us deeper down to the
Depths that be
Where our soul lives
  in dark spaces
Not reached by outward
  whims and pronouncements
Only in the quiet echoes
