The Episcopal Café seeks to be an independent voice, reporting and reflecting on the Episcopal Church and the Anglican tradition. The Café is not a platform of advocacy, but it does aim to tell the story of the church from the perspective of Progressive Christianity. Our collective sympathy, as the Café, lies with the project of widening the circle of inclusion within the church and empowering all the baptized for the role to which they have been called as followers of Christ.
The opinions expressed at the Café are those of individual contributors, and, unless otherwise noted, should not be interpreted as official statements of a parish, diocese or other organization. The art and articles that appear here remain the property of their creators.
Why must there be only one door to the church? Maybe communion could be a door to baptism.

oh bro David …..I was heartbroken because half of the HOB WERE AGAINST open communion. I feel closed communion is an afront to the teachings of Jesus and a grieving and stifling of the Holy Spirit.
blessings Dan
The Episcopal Church has open communion, all baptized Christians are welcome to communion. What TEC does not have is communion before baptism. And I hope it never does. What Jesus said was to go into the world and to baptism people. Baptism is the door to the church and to communion, not the other way around.
Bro David
yes the man can preach and inspire. He will be an excellent face for the church. My question is will he be someone who will lead the HOB which includes calling them on their BS the attitude concerning paying the PHOD and the power of same , was just shocking. and the vote conc open eucharist was just heartbreaking.
