Who says Episcopalians can’t rock?
The choir of Calvary Episcopal in Williamsville, N.Y. will be performing with the Rolling Stones on July 11.
From the Buffalo News’ Gusto:
[Music director and choir conductor Alex] Benestelli said the choir was asked in February to perform with the Rolling Stones by a friend of his who lives in the United Kingdom and helps organize the tours. The choir started rehearsing about a month ago and have had only about six or seven rehearsals to memorize songs and choreography. He said he was told not to disclose what songs they will be performing. The classic rock band is known to invite local choirs to perform with them in the choirs’ hometown.

Of course it would be the forward thinking Episcopal Church that would support the Rolling Stones. We are awesome bunch of people!
Will there be a video of this? I wish they’d come to Los Angeles and sing with one of our choirs. Or better yet, have an event at the Disney Theatre with several Los Angeles Choirs: the Diocese had a celebration of music about three weeks ago there and it was sensational. Would love to have the Stones come.
thanks for your support!
And we just heard the Stones in Raleigh with the Dike Chapel Vespers Choir!
Have you read Keith Richards’s autobiography? He was a chorister, and attended choir school until his voice broke and the choirmaster had no more use for him. I got the sense from the way Richards described this part of his life that he is still bitter, nearly 60 years later.
