Dioceses in the Scottish Episcopal Church overwhelmingly vote to allow provision for equal marriage

The Scottish Episcopal Church has been holding its diocesan synods, and voting on proposals that would allow for some clergy to perform marriages for same-sex couples. The proposals would change Canon 31 of the Scottish Episcopal Church, and will face a final vote at the General Synod, to be held this July.

Normally, I find great comfort in the cluelessness of Jesus’ disciples. I find it reassuring to note that even those who had the privilege of journeying with Jesus during his life so often missed the point. However, this is one of the few moments in the Gospel where I find the message of the disciples just as poignant as that of Jesus.
