Steven Thrasher of the Village Voice posted a video of the first marriage in Brooklyn, between Michael Furey and Bienvenido Amagna. He reported that the couple was composed, but that the judge was near tears.
The NY Daily News has a long slide show of weddings all over the city all day long.
The Lesbian and Gay Democratic Club of Queens had a brunch this afternoon to honor of two women celebrating 35 years together. Asked if they were going to marry now, they said "Yes!" and produced a priest and witnesses and took their vows on the spot. Very pleasant surprise.

AFTER a lifetime of being genuinely happy and deeply moved when heterosexual friends and family members marry--I would like for you to know the deep feelings of joy I have for my unkown-to-me LGBTI sisters and brothers who now, TODAY, can marry in New York--we, TODAY, are no longer always just well-wishing/MEANING loved ones, best men and brides maids...heck, we're full-fledged spouces, husbands and wives! Couldn't have happened to a nicer GROUP-IN-WAITING!

What a delight! Connie was a colleague at the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union--I have not seen her since some time around 1980. A double celebration!
