PB gives steady, expansive interview in Raleigh

Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori was her usual steady self in an interview with David Crabtree of WRAL TV, himself an Episcopalian. The interview touched on the ecological devastation of the Gulf of Mexico in the wake of the still-spreading BP oil spill, earthquake recovery efforts in Haiti; relationships in the Anglican Communion, and "mitregate", which she said was not painful, but was "silly."

While she was in the state the presiding bishop was also interviewed by the Rt. Rev. Michael Curry, Bishop of North Carolina. Video is at the diocese's Youtube channel:

Part I (8 minutes)
Part II (8 minutes)
Thanks to Patrick Burrows for the pointer to the interviews with Curry.

Another interview with ++Katharine by +Michael Curry, Bishop of North Carolina, on the Diocese of North Carolina's Youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/episdionc

Silly's the word.

I praise God for some sanity.

Good job, David!

Bishop Katharine "gets it" about the oil gusher (not spill, please!), as others do not, because of her background in oceanography. She also "gets" the ripple effect from the gusher. Her words warm my heart, as I follow the catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico from a 40 or so miles away, as the crow flies.

This is great. Here's the scorecard for ++Katharine:

1.) First female Primate. Awesome, just about reason enough to join TEC.
2.) The Primate is a fully trained oceanographer. Sweet, that's great for a skeptic like me.
3.) She's a pilot. Well that's cool, but really just a factoid.
4.) The Primate refers to the Daily Show in a taped interview. Game, set, match. We are so lucky to have her pastoral (and otherwise) leadership!

Thanks be to God!
