Torey makes the Newsteam proud

Torey.jpgApparently one of the members of the Episcopal Cafe Newsteam has a special talent that the rest of the team didn't know about. When it comes to mastering the arcane details of the Simpson's TV series, Torey is the best of the best in Sioux City.

The local public library organized an open Simpson's Trivia contest. Children, teens, meterologist all entered. And one Episcopal priest was left standing at the end.

According the epic account of the event, one of the favorites going into the competition was a self-professed Simpson's nerd, Matt Husk, who claimed to have seen every episode ever made at least twice:

"Yet Husk was no match for Torey Lightcap, the eventual winner of the contest.

Lightcap, the minister of Sioux City's St. Thomas Episcopal Church, said he frequently uses the show in his sermons.

''The Simpsons' are so universally and instantly identifiable that I can refer to them and feel confident that people will know who I'm talking about,' Lightcap, who received a $10 Hy-Vee gift certificate for his win, said."

Pardon us while we wipe away a tear of pride... No news yet on what the gift certificate was used for.

The ten bucks went to the same place all my money goes: to feed my apparently starving children! (But no doughnuts. Sorry, Homer.)

The Rev. Timothy Lovejoy.

Separated at birth?

We're totally different. For one thing, I don't wear a lot of tab collars.

Lovejoy is protestant - Presby? - he's usually got a tie on under his robe. I think this image was photoshopped by an RC admirer.

Something like "Second Church of Presbylutherans."
