First woman on Episcopal Church Executive Council dies

The Episcopal Diocese of Georgia reports:


Mrs. Martha Wilson, a life long member of St. Matthew’s Church, Savannah, died peacefully on Thursday evening (October 7) in Ohio. A [spokesperson] for civil rights, Mrs. Wilson was the first Black and the first woman Deputy from Georgia. She went on to also become the first Black and first woman on Executive Council of The Episcopal Church in 1970.
