Alberto Cutié is a priest again
The Miami Herald has the story (and bilingual video):
As he stood in front of dozens of reporters a year ago to say he was leaving the Roman Catholic Church and marrying, celebrity priest Alberto Cutié took a plunge, putting his life on a path that would look little like what he imagined when he slipped on that first clerical collar in his 20s and and vowed a life of celibacy. These days, he's a suburban 41-year-old husband, sharing a three-bedroom house in Miami Shores with his wife and her son, often cooking Cuban meals before a game of Chinese checkers.
On Saturday, after dusting off the same white stole he wore when he knelt before Miami's Roman Catholic Archbishop 15 years ago to be ordained, he put it back over his shoulders. Padre Alberto is a priest again, this time in the Episcopal church.
It's not the only change in his life. In six months, the padre will be a dad. Ruhama Buni Cutié is pregnant.
This is just one of more than 15 stories on Cutie. He is likely to become a significant figure in the Episcopal Church.

BRAVO PADRE ALBERTO! It´s so nice to have another healthy heterosexual clergyperson amongst us...you know, a REAL person who everyday REAL Christians can identify with and grow forward in faith living in REALITY (and openly repenting denial and pretend).

I really wish that journalists on the religious beat did real research before publishing! I may be in error, so any RC priests please jump in and help me out. It is my understanding that the folks who take vows of celibacy in the RC are the religious, both men and women, lay and ordained, but diocesan ordained do not. In a round about way it could be construed that they do make a commitment to celibacy, but not a vow. They make a vow of obedience. The rules under which they live currently require celibacy, but that could be changed in a moment and they would not all need to somehow fudge their previous vows.
I wish Father Cutie well. I hope that this is the life to which he is really suited. It is far less celebrated in status to which he is accustomed. I hope that if he becomes well known in his own right as an Episcopalian/Anglican that it is the leading of the Holy Spirit and not because he has an addiction to lead a life in the lime light.

Once a priest, always a priest.

Däˈvēd/David, that's not quite accurate. RC diocesan priests (such as Padre Alberto was) vow chastity and obedience; RC religious priets (i.e., members of orders) vow chastity, obedience, and poverty. All RC priests are vowed to chastity (interpreted as celibacy) and to obedience; only the priests who are members of orders are additionally vowed to poverty.

Thank you Viriato.
So chastity for Roman Rite diocesan and religious deacons and priests, at this moment, is defined as absolute celibacy. Consequently, chastity for Roman Rite diocesan deacons and priests at some moment in the future could be redefined to include monogamous marriage, as it does in other Rites loyal to Rome which allow married deacons and priests. And nobody would need to fudge their vows, because it is based on the current definition of what is required.
