Teaching a trade

Timothy Park of Redmond, Oregon, documents the work of hair stylists who go to Nicaraugua to teach hair styling to women to help blunt the epidemic of prostitution.

In November of 2010 I had a chance meeting with Tim Westcott, who shared with me that he was planning to travel to Managua, Nicaragua to teach hair styling to disadvantaged women, many of whom were involved in prostitution. The idea was to give each woman a skill that she could use to make a living, and in doing so giving her hope for her future.
