RC bishops issue bulletin insert to battle marriage equality

The U.S. Conference of Catholic bishops is fighting same-sex marriage with new Sunday bulletin inserts about marriage equality and the Supreme Court. From Think Progress:

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has issued a new insert for distribution in church bulletins about “Marriage and the Supreme Court,” urging Catholics to pray, fast, and sacrifice to advocate against marriage equality. The insert dwells on the idea that marriage equality erases gender, challenging the beliefs that “men and women matters” and that mothers and fathers “aren’t interchangeable” when it comes to the best interests of children. In addition, it suggests the two Supreme Court cases will be the “Roe v. Wade of marriage.”

What they really mean is that same sex marriage makes Thomas Aquinas and his natural law ideas about sexuality less relevant. Oh, and it makes the Roman hierarchy less relevant. Gender actually becomes more relevant to the people getting married!

Thank you, USCCB, for yet again alienating any LGBT individuals, advocates, or family members who might be attending mass the weekend this insert is distributed. You've proven once again that you consider your political agenda to be more important than Christ's commandment to love one another.

Wait - is that St Joseph and the BVM in the upper right hand corner? Pretty odd choice by the RC bishops to illustrate the idea that procreation is the central pillar of matrimony, isn't it?

By the way, suddenly all my comments are being held for approval. Why is that?
