Alan raises some good points. Jesus may have overturned tables in the temple, but TEC can often become little more than a wonderful, comfortable, sunny world of stained glass, music and friends. Not that there is anything wrong with these; quite to the contrary. But a little edge would be good.

I would like to rephrase the question slightly, so I can give a better personal answer, than a philosophic. Am I afraid of the Church? yes, mostly, because I think there are many Christians who make hurtful judgments. Can the Church, or anyone be a threat to the Gospel? No. The Gospel is truth and love, truth and love never fail, we cannot go very far without either.
