Saturday collection 12/19/09

One sometimes hears people say that because the Episcopal Church is involved in a difficult conversation about human sexuality, we have "trouble getting our message out." Thanks to Neva Rae Fox, the Church's public affairs officer, we can say conclusively that in certain seasons of the year, this is objectively untrue. Every day Neva monitors the mainstream media for reports about the Church, and every Saturday we pass a few of those along. This week we present without elaboration a particularly bountiful harvest in its entirety.

The Boys Choir at the National Cathedral makes joyful Christmas noise.

A soup kitchen in Laramie, Wyoming.

Christmas hospitality in Bristol, Va.

Developing a vital downtown in Jacksonville, Fla.

Food and shelter for homeless families in Mobile, Ala.

The Diocese of Wyoming's offices go green.

Low-income elderly donate toys in Melbourne, Fla.

Faithful photographer wins human rights award in North Carolina.

In Jersey City, a memorial service for those who died homeless.

Working with a troubled teen in Memphis.

Helping the homeless as temperatures plummet in Rhode Island.

Supporting a victim of white supremacists in Bozeman, Mont.

Remembering inmates children at Christmas in Virginia.

And: A quiet church sexton makes a big difference in Montgomery, Ala.
