Mission statement available

The Episcopal Church's 2010-2012 triennial budget available now online. During floor debate the deputies rejected each of several amendments to the budget presented by the Program, Budget, and Finance committee.

Among the proposed amendments was one that would have added $270,000 to restore funding to the office of racial justice. During 2007-2009 the office will have spent on the order of $320,000.

The office of racial justice was one of several that was defunded in the Church's $141 million budget for 2010-2012. It is not clear why the office was not funded and how or whether its responsibilities will be carried out. That is, have priorities changed or will there will be a new way of pursuing the same objectives?

The Anti-Racism Committee of the Executive Council was funded $20,000, unchanged from 2007-2009.
