Our friend Andrew Linzey reminds us that there are excellent resources regarding the theological significance of animals and how we treat them.
And we remind you that Andrew's book, Why Animal Suffering Matters, is one of them.
While St. Francis has a deep love of all God's creation, he had a special mission and ministry to the poor and sick. We try and combine a concern for the poor with whatever we do about animals because, on balance, Francis favored a redistribution of wealth, so that all might understand the Lord's priorities.
