This is a great metaphor! Perhaps my favorite part is her call for us to be silent, to ponder, to wait. Wouldn't it be great if there were no statements or opinions that came out of General Convention 2012? Wouldn't it be cool if bishops and deputies dumped the frantic pace of dawn-to-dusk legislative sessions and instead did the minimum necessary legislative business and then spent several days thoughtfully, prayerfully, gradually, and patiently discerning the future structure and direction of the church? No one cares what TEC thinks about most issues anyway.

The level to which folks care about what TEC says and the totorous process we often take to say it do not relieve us of our obligation to do so. That said, it would be awesome if our governing bodies (on all levels) spent less time talking and more time praying, silently discerning, and perhaps even doing.
