St. Joe and the latte liturgy

Never mind that coffee is a religion, or that it fuels most everything on a daily basis, or that maybe we should add St. Arbucks to Holy Women, Holy Men.

What if coffee was marketed like postmodern Protestantism markets itself? How uncomfortable would that be? Moreover, what would you have to do just to get a cup of the stuff (God, transcendence ... )? And, why would it be so expensive?

On the other hand, our sanctuaries would smell terrific. (I sense a new style of incense emerging.)

Using an outside frame of reference can help us see where we go wrong and what we get right; but a little discomfort is only natural when the mirror reflects an accurate summation.

So. What can churches do better?

I laughed, I cried.

This is us, folks. (You say you don't see our liturgical ethos captured, but the video does a good job of capturing a generic denomination even if slightly on the Evangelical side.)
