Reminder: At Episcopal Café, we hope to establish an ethic of transparency by requiring all contributors and commentators to make submissions under their real names. For more details see our Feedback Policy. Commenters who were registered under nicknames or pseudonyms at the old Daily Episcopalian site must reregister. Thanks.

re: the "ethic of transparency by requiring all contributors and commentators to make submissions under their real names."
I wish this were a widespread norm throughout the blogosphere... where no one would be hiding behind the mask of an internet "handle" and would instead take ownership for their words. Thanks.

Thanks David.
Our hope in setting this site (and it's comments) the way we have, is that this ethic will encourage people to engage each other in a different way than what we often see online. And more importantly, that this will create a safe space for people who have not been willing to engage in conversation in a medium like this, to have the opportunity.
Hope we'll hear from you often!

I agree that we should have to contribute under our real names, but with this caveat, that some persons, in danger of retaliation, may have to use nicknames or pseudonymns.

Dusty, that provision is included within our feedback guidelines. If a person convinces the editorial board of a real need, that person will be allowed to post with a pseudonym.

Oh oh, I got signed in automatically as Dusty Deacon, a previous nom de plume. How do I change that to my real name?

You need to login to your typekey account:
http://www.typekey.com
and change your "nickname" on your account. (It's the nickname that shows up.)
Or just do what you did here: sign your posts with your real name.
