I read through all of these links and had to sit down and brew up a cup of tea.

I dunno, the take away point was found in this sidebar link off the WSJ article: "The evidence that skill plays a role in high-stakes poker is much more solid, the authors pointedly observed, than the evidence for skill in professional asset management."

The tariff one is puzzling and I'm afraid smells of statisticulation. Average how? What produces the difference? Is it because big powerful countries are able to negotiate better deals, or because of the produces in question, or some fluke? At least it has some citations: the BB player one has no provenance at all.

(And yes, I'm testy, probably because I've been refuting 9/11 conspiracy nuts today.)
