Lambeth has new Secretary for Public Affairs

Lambeth Palace reports it has hired Kay Brock to serve as the Secretary for Public Affairs to Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams.

Brock was Chief of Staff to six Lord Mayors of London and Assistant Private Secretary to the Queen.

The post is being filled after its previous holder, George Pitcher, a priest associated with St. Bride's, Fleet Street ("the journalist's church"), was released last summer. Pitcher had publicly joked about Williams' criticism of the coalition government when he, Williams, guest-edited the New Statesman. Pitcher's lately come to Williams' defense, however, in the matter of the Occupy movement.
