Law suits against traditional Anglicans demonic, says Akinola

The outgoing Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Nigeria, Peter Akinola, is not happy the Episcopal Church has chosen to defend its property in court. He made his remarks at a "valedictorian luncheon" in Washington D. C. last week.

The New Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that in spite of heavy snowstorms in Washington D.C on Wednesday, the organisers of the event braced the odds to organise the momentous event.

``It is (the law suits) a major challenge. It is not CANA going to court; it is the demonic powers in the so-called Episcopal Church that are suing CANA churches. They are fighting us with everything they have with the hope of crushing us. It is so ungodly, so demonic and they are determined to completely wipe us out and this is costing millions of dollars," [Akinola said].

NAN reports that the Convocation of Anglicans in North America (CANA), a missionary initiative of the Church of Nigeria, was established in 2005 to cater for Christians opposed to same-sex teachings.

Someone did not get the memo that it's not about homosexuality.

Honestly, why does anyone listen to this man? When did these people, with their cause, begin to belive that it should not cost them anything? Let's shake the dust from our feet and move forward.

How...interesting...that Archbishop Akinola has changed his tune so dramatically on this issue. As I recall, several years ago, he told the folks who were creating ACNA to walk away and leave their church buildings.

I wonder what could POSSIBLY have changed his mind and caused him to spout such egregious lies against The Episcopal Church and those of us who remain faithful to it?

So using the U.S. justice system to return purloined proterty to its rightful owners garners the label "demonic" but using the Ugandan justice system to kill gays garners ... silence?

Yeah -- that'll make Jesus proud.
