Kearon "delighted" as Mexico adopts Anglican Covenant
Mexico has become the first Communion Province to adopt the Anglican Communion Covenant following its VI General Synod in Mexico City on 11 and 12 June.
Secretary General Kenneth Kearon said he was delighted at the decision and labelled The Anglican Church of Mexico's decision as a "significant step" in the life of the Communion.
The Anglican Communion Covenant, a document that outlines the common life and values of the Communion, was described by Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams as "Something that helps us know where we stand together and also helps us to intensify our fellowship and our trust." It includes a section that proposes how to address significant disagreements within the Anglican Communion.
The idea of a Covenant was first raised in 2004 and member churches are currently reviewing the latest and final version. "We are delighted to hear that Mexico has agreed to adopt the Covenant," said Canon Kearon. "Provinces were asked to take their time to seriously consider this document, and we are glad to hear from recent synods that they are doing just that."

The Communion has now entered the ecclesiastical equivalent of Word Cup Soccer.

Yes, it is a bit embarrassing, but I am but one of a tiny few progressive/liberal voices in a mostly just right of center province!
Mexican culture is not really big on rocking the boat or causing anyone else a problem. If a waiter gave really bad service, we would not leave a tip and probably not return, than bear the guilt of being the cause of someone possibly with a wife and children loosing their job because we complained.

I find this burst of enthusiasm very odd, especially coming from Mexico (where spiritual matters and politics are preformed with great savvy and sincerity)...perhaps Dah-veed can help us here with the intension/thinking of rushing into validating this despot tainted Anglican Covenant.

Thanks Däˈvēd, I, crude/cantankerous soul that I am, forgot about the ¨confrontational¨ vs ¨face saving¨ (even as legal same sex weddings are being performed in Mexico D.F.).

What bugged me was the "delighted". Is that akin to the thumbs up "like" button on Facebook? I thought Kearon did the ACC's business. He seems to think he works for the ABC who wants this thing endorsed. I don't recall the ACC has taken a position on the covenant. Others provinces have "seriously considered" the covenant and not received Kearon's running commentary.

Leo, it is the politics of the Federal District. It is firmly in the hands of the PRD (Partido de la Revolución Democrática [Party of the Democratic Revolution]). They are the party of the Left.
We have three strong political parties that get elected in almost equal numbers which causes a useless federal congress: Pan (Partido Acción Nacional [National Action Party]) the Right; PRI (Partido Revolucionario Institucional [Institutional Revolutionary Party]) the Center; and PAN.

In spite of the amount of land the US stole from Mexico, Mexico is not an American colony. Nor is the Province of Mexico a colony of TEC. They can vote as the spirit moves them.

Um, was anyone suggesting they can't, Paul W?
Wot John B Chilton said. It is not the Kearon's proper role to play cheerleader for the Covenant (unless he simply wants to cheer a decision---in which case he should greet NZ's "Not THIS Covenant!" just as much as Mexico's Si)
