First British woman bishop on horizon?
A woman priest has been named as one of the three nominees for the upcoming bishop's election in the Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway in the Scottish Episcopal Church. The election is scheduled for the middle of January.
If Dr. Alison Peden were to be elected, she would be the first woman to serve as a bishop in a ecclesiastical province of the UK though not as part of the Church of England.
Ruth Gledhill reports on the news here.

Pardon me, a quibble: I believe the body containing the Diocese of Glascow and Galloway is "The Scottish Episcopal Church," NOT the "Anglican Church of Scotland." Although I don't believe the Scots are now facing the level of confusion we in the US are with Episcopal vs. Anglican in diocese names.

I presume that the original post was corrected, because I see no mention of the Anglican Church of Scotland.
Anyway, it would be lovely if Dr Peden were to be elected. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the Scottish Episcopal Church for consecrating our first bishop.
