General Convention 2009: arrival

I am in Anaheim, thanks to Alaska Airlines and the Super Shuttle from LAX. There are Episcopal Church signs on the Anaheim Convention Center, but at the moment, my hotel, the Hilton, is home to a convention of barbershop quartets. You walk out of the elevator and into a scene from The Music Man.

I am establishing one rule for commenting on convention coverage: anyone making Mickey Mouse jokes will have their posting privileges suspended for 48 hours. Magic Kingdom jokes will cost you 24. And those are real hours. This isn’t Major League Baseball where you can go play on one of our farm blogs.

Serious scene setter, curtain raiser (and other journalistic cliches) to come, but not until tomorrow.

  1. I’m glad you’re safely arrived, and even more glad that you’ll be covering GC.

I’ll abide by your rules, even though they seem a little goofy to me.

Remember: You only forbade Mickey Mouse & Magic Kingdom jokes. If you want to forbid the entire Disney Empire, you must be a bit more specific in your Pharisee injunctions. 😉

(You asked for this, y’know! 😉

Let us know about all the famous Episcopalians you meet, Jim: it’s a small world after all…

  5. Jim is THE famous Episcopalian — all others pale!

  6. I hope we meet up sometime while I’m there, Jim, even though I’m not a famous Episcopalian.

  7. June,

Don’t kid yourself. You’re famous. Wish I was there to meet up with you.
