A new advertising initiative

Eight churches in our diocese are collaborating on an ad campaign. The churches, most of them in southern Montgomery County, have purchased about 20 ads that will run in the weekly Gazette newspapers during the coming year. The advertisement was designed by the Church Ad Project, and it directs people to EpiscopalMontgomery.org. Have a look.

I notice that one very important name is missing from that list! ;-)

I am pleased to see Episcopal Churches undertake such an outreach project, but I wonder whether using print media is the most effective means for doing so. I would suggest that the campaign used the type of innovative use of the web as Father Matthew at St. Paul's in Yonkers. He has short, entertaining, but to the point videos on You Tube to convay a message to those who might otherwise never go to church. Each video attracts thousands of viewers (who make scores of comments)--not bad for a young Curate at a small church!
