The ABC takes some leave

Ruth Gledhill reports that the Archbishop of Canterbury is taking a "study leave" in June and July, followed by his annual holiday in August. That leaves only a handful of dates on which he could meet with the Episcopal Church's House of Bishops before the September 30 deadline by which the bishops must respond to recommendations from the Primates of the Anglican Communion.

Perhaps he's going looking for a chair of moral theology in some nice quiet out of the way college. That would be a good move for him at this point.

Perhaps we could find an opportunity for him to study here in the US. The resources of the networks of theological schools in the Boston area (including EDS) or in Berkeley, California (including CDSP) should be sufficient for anyone's standards.

Rowan's personal visage would fit in nicely in Bezerkly.

Surely you can't be meaning Moral theology???

Rowan Williams spending more time listening to God can only be to the good, as far as I'm concerned. I've been as disappointed with his words and deeds as anyone, but I don't see how piling on at this point helps the situation. I hope he spends the vast majority of the time in retreat and that this time calls him back to his better self.

Prayers go with him, and our best hopes.
