7 Deadly Sins mapped

Wired maps the seven deadly sins:

We’re gluttons for infographics, and a team at Kansas State just served up a feast: maps of sin created by plotting per-capita stats on things like theft (envy) and STDs (lust). Christian clergy, likely noting the Bible Belt’s status as Wrath Central, question the “science.” Valid point—or maybe it’s just the pride talking.

The scale runs from Red (Devilish) to Gold (Saintly). Here is the map for Lust:

They probably need to consider more than one factor on each sin. For instance, calculating Lust solely on the basis of STD’s should take into consideration lack on sex education in schools. Why not, in that case look at rates of prostitution, pregnancy, average age of loss of virginity? Then, factor in poverty and education with all those.

The same holds true for Gluttony. Why only the number of fast food restaurants, and not obesity or the average grocery bill?

I’m also not convinced Pride was calculated in the best way.

Basically, although this in interesting, I think sin is a lot more complicated than this portrays it.
